Axon eases transition to IP and 4K/UHD

Axon Digital Design will be demonstrating an enhanced range of IP products and production tools designed to help broadcasters address the challenges of the move to IP. With audiences worldwide gearing up for an epic summer of sports action, the Axon team will also highlight how broadcasters and outside broadcast (OB) companies are using Axon’s solutions to capture the action from events such as the FIFA World Cup and Formula 1.

Leading Axon’s showcase at BroadcastAsia2018 is the Cerebrum control and monitoring platform designed for mobile production, news and studio live production, master control and remote production. This open platform supports third-party integration — including within IP environments — and enables media operators to undertake complex tasks with ease.

The second solution Axon will be highlighting is the SynView Multiview, which is designed to manage both 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) and IP video formats. Besides supporting a wide range of applications, and from small to large monitoring walls, SynView is also able to support whichever video transport mechanism the industry chooses to adopt, says Axon.

Available in two models — SDI I/O or Ethernet I/O — these versions can be mixed and matched to build a hybrid multiviewer with up to hundreds of inputs and eight 1080p heads on SDI, or two heads with 4K/UHD resolution.

Alongside the SynView will be the Utah Scientific 400 Series 3 hybrid digital router, which will be making its BroadcastAsia debut this year. Equipped with the ability to create IP signals from the same central frame, the 400 Series 3 is able to manage IP and SDI video signal formats, along with a number of audio and data formats.
