BroadcastAsia 2022 taking place at Singapore Expo, June 1-3

BroadcastAsia is back! After taking an extended break for the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the most significant broadcast exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) will be held from June 1 to 3 at the Singapore Expo.

BroadcastAsia 2022 seeks to bring together the most influential regional broadcasters, media, content creators, entertainment professionals, and broadcast solution providers in the region. As the anchor event of Asia Tech x Singapore, organised by Informa Tech and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore, BroadcastAsia is the event to attend in 2022 for a complete picture of the broadcast sector in the region and beyond.

The organisers have invited delegates to network and garner insights from the titans of industry, and join the conversations covering the latest trends in the business of broadcast media, broadcast technology, content and production, esports and gaming, and investments.

The exhibition caters to broadcast solution providers and content creators to interact with broadcasters looking for insights on technology trends impacting Asia’s media landscape. The trade show will also provide a source for the latest broadcast technology from a marketplace of global vendors.

For broadcast solution providers, there would be an opportunity to understand the impact of the evolving media ecosystem and to meet and network with key decision-makers and understand investment trends in the Asian broadcast industry.

Content creators would get insights on how VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality) and new technology are creating new content experiences. They could find out the latest creative production technologies that are set to transform the broadcast industry, and discuss content monetisation models that work in the Asia-Pacific region

Among the key topics that will be discussed at BroadcastAsia 2022 are:

  • Metaverse and Web3.0:

How Businesses will Transform with Content and Experiences?

  • AI in Content Creation, Management and Monetisation
  • Metaverse, VR, Quantum, Gaming
  • Creating Brand Experiences with VR, AR and New Technology
  • Investments in the Broadcast Industry

Thought-provoking sessions are part of the conference section of BroadcastAsia 2022, such as a panel discussion on ‘How can ASEAN countries digitalise while ensuring digital inclusion and environmental sustainability?’

ASEAN is not a monolithic region and this is exemplified when taking into account digital penetration and the gap in digital skills and education across the ASEAN countries. As technology pervades our everyday life, the impact of digitalisation on the environment will also grow. This panel will examine how digitalisation can deepen  challenges but also solutions in bridging the digital divide and in championing sustainability.

Another interesting session has been provocatively entitled ‘Masters or defenders of the Metaverse?’ Like a sci-fi novel, the Metaverse promises a Utopian existence of free movement, expression and decentralised trade in the virtual sphere. Creator communities will use virtual and augmented reality to develop digital social experiences that interact with the real world. How will all these impact the media industry?

PwC has forecast the VR/AR market to reach US$1.5 trillion by the end of the decade. NFT platforms already have a head start, with cryptocurrencies predicted to drive the Metaverse’s digital purchasing power.

Will the next frontier be free and fair or just a new revenue stream for big tech? Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney warns that without new industry standards and laws to keep the Metaverse open and democratic, it may become dominated by gatekeepers who play the role that Apple, Google, Facebook, Alibaba and Tencent do in today’s digital economy.

Can Asia, with its growing gaming sector, make inroads into this new territory?

This is a thought-provoking question, to which the answers will be provided in the session on the perplexing complexities of the Metaverse at BroadcastAsia 2022.

See you at Asia’s premier regional broadcast event!
