Cobalt Digital’s new blueCORE compact powerhouse signal processors taking centre stage @ BroadcastAsia

Cobalt Digital is bringing unmatched flexibility and efficiency to modern broadcast workflows with its new COBALT blueCORE family of standalone processors. Following a highly successful debut at the 2026 NAB Show – where it earned a Best of Show award — blueCORE is a featured highlight at BroadcastAsia 2026, booth 5D2-4, where Cobalt is exhibiting.

Designed to bridge the gap between SDI and ST 2110/IPMX, blueCORE addresses the growing need for flexible, future-ready infrastructures by delivering powerful, multi-function audio and video processing in a compact, self-contained unit.

The COBALT blueCORE family combines all the audio and video processing functions required for live production in a single 1RU device. Its compact form factor, ease of operation and low power requirements (less than 80W for the ST 2110 version) make the blueCORE family perfectly suited for live production in trucks, outside broadcast (OB) vans and other space constrained environments. 

Supporting both SDI and ST 2110/IPMX inputs and outputs, the system accommodates copper and fibre connectivity, offering four channels of 3G processing or a single channel up to 12G. This flexibility offers broadcasters the essential functionality they need from one space-saving device while navigating the transition from SDI to IP.

Deployment is fast and simple: power it up, connect the signals, and the device is ready to operate with or without a computer. A large touchscreen front panel makes local configuration of all processing functions effortless, which is a distinct advantage in small OB vans, and fly packs where configurations change from event to event.

blueCORE also includes four illuminated knobs for straightforward operation of vital functions directly at the unit without needing an external control panel.  The unit can also be deployed in traditional fixed environments with remote control accessed through a Web GUI, adding to its flexibility. 

Capabilities include up/down/cross conversion, colour correction, several flavors of high dynamic range (HDR) processing, audio routing and mixing, per-channel frame sync, frame rate conversion, audio embedding and de-embedding, SCTE-104 insertion, logo insertion, and many more base features, delivering extensive functionality from one slim unit.  

With its powerful feature set, compact design, and hybrid SDI/IP support, COBALT blueCORE represents a practical, future-focused solution for broadcasters looking to streamline operations while preparing for the next generation of infrastructure.
