Dish Network acquiring EchoStar’s BSS

Dish Network, a US television provider, is acquiring EchoStar’s Broadcast Satellite Services business, a satellite communication solution provider based in Colorado, USA, for US$800 million worth of stock.

The network will take over nine direct broadcast satellites in return: EchoStar VII, EchoStar X, EchoStar XI, EchoStar XII, EchoStar XIV, EchoStar XVI, EchoStar XXIII, Nimiq 5 and QuetzSat-1.

In addition, key personnel responsible for the operation of the satellite, as well as licences for the orbital slot and real estates related to the dish will be included in the deal.

In 2017, Dish Network acquired EchoStar’s properties to broadcast Dish TVand Sling Tv.

The new acquisition is expected to be formalised in the later half of this year, depending on the closing conditions.
