FPT Telecom adds Ciena technology to manage digital content in Vietnam

FPT Telecom, a telecommunications provider in Vietnam, has deployed hardware and software from Ciena to manage rising residential broadband traffic across Vietnam driven by entertainment and other services.

The enhanced network is more resilient, and enables FPT Telecom’s customers to access and experience digital content more seamlessly.

“Delivering fast and reliable connectivity is the foundation of making Vietnam a more connected nation and equips us to play in the international arena,” said Hoang Viet Anh, CEO, FPT Telecom.

“With Ciena’s coherent optical and intelligent software platforms, FPT Telecom delivers more engaging digital experiences and ensures our customers get the most value from new technology trends.”

FPT Telecom used Ciena’s 6500 Packet-Optical Platform powered by WaveLogic Ai coherent optics to increase its network capacity and benefit from real-time link performance metrics. This has helped the company to optimise capacity and network efficiencies.

Ciena’s Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) domain controller simplified the upgrading and operating FPT Telecom’s network.

Enhanced network performance has been enabled by multi-vendor visibility and analysis provided by Route Optimization and Analysis (ROA) from Blue Planet, a Ciena division. Additionally, Ciena Professional Services provided the expertise to accelerate the network rollout.

“FPT Telecom is a prime example of how a network that can adapt and scale is critical to today’s digital culture,” said Dion Leung, Managing Director for ASEAN, Ciena.

“This deployment reinforces our ability to deliver award-winning solutions that address total cost of ownership and achieve network transformation goals.”

FPT’s telecommunications infrastructure covers 59 provinces and 63 cities in Vietnam. The company has 46 offices in 22 countries and territories around the world.
