New to the UA series of 4K/UHD 2/3-inch lenses are UA46x9.5B and UA46x13.5B, which are equipped with 46x zoom ratio and a newly designed OS-TECH image stabiliser
Fujifilm has added two new lenses — UA46x9.5B and UA46x13.5B — to its UA series of 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) 2/3-inch lenses.
The UA46x9.5B features 46x zoom ratio and a wide angle from 9.5mm-437mm with an F2.0 aperture. As for the UA46x13.5B, the lens offers a telephoto reach from 13.5mm-621mm with an F2.8 aperture, in addition to its 46x zoom ratio.
Both the UA46x zoom lenses are equipped with a newly designed OS-TECH image stabiliser, and can be deployed for sports, wildlife and documentary productions. The lenses are also enhanced with the Digital Full Servo Drive Unit, which features 16-bit encoding for “accurate” local or remote operation of the zoom, focus or iris. Additionally, the drive unit offers a “Virtual Connector”, which is able to output the lens’ positional data.
The lenses also employ High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating (HT-EBC), which results in “richer colours” and improved blue response and transmittance. Supported by a multi-group zoom system, both the lenses are able to achieve 4K/UHD optical performance from centre to corner throughout the zoom range while suppressing image distortion.
Thomas Fletcher, director of marketing, Fujifilm Optical Devices Division, explained: “The adoption of high dynamic range (HDR) by broadcasters is poised for rapid acceptance, and it’s a trend we are in the position to address.
“Our high-contrast, high-quality lenses are ideal for HDR. Given the colour science expertise of Fujifilm with its motion picture film history, the Fujinon lenses are not only 4K/UHD but also produce bright, eye-popping HDR images.”
Another member of the UA series 2/3-inch lens family that will be making its NAB Show debut is the UA24x7.8 lens. With a total length of 8.68-inch (220.5mm) and weight of 4.36 pounds (1.98kg), the UA24x7.8 zoom lens features 24x zoom, covering a focal length from the wide angle of 7.8mm-187mm. Due to its portability, users are able to deploy the UA24x7.8 lens in video environments that require mobility and extended shoulder time, such as live sports news and reality TV.
