Grossing over US$6.5 million in the Philippines, Kita Kita has made its way to HOOQ
HOOQ, a subscription video-on-demand (SVoD) service, has acquired the rights to Kita Kita, the highest-grossing Filipino indie film in the Philippines.
Starting this February 9, HOOQ viewers are able to catch the romantic comedy in the Philippines, and across other territories where HOOQ is available, including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and India.
Produced by Spring Films and Viva Films, Kita Kita tells the story of how two people find love in a foreign land. Starring Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez, the film follows the story of a tourist guide (played by De Rossi), who temporarily loses her vision after her engagement falls apart. She then crosses paths with Tonyo (played by Marquez), who wins her hear with his charm and humour.
Jennifer Batty, chief content officer of HOOQ, commented: “We are incredibly excited to have such a high calibre Filipino movie on HOOQ. Filipino content is very important to HOOQ, and the addition of Kita Kita will further boost HOOQ’s already impressive library of Filipino movies.”
Besides Kita Kita, HOOQ has lined up a series of films for viewers this Valentine’s Day, including One More Chance, Starting Over Again, A Very Special Love, and That Thing Called Tadhana.
