Imagine Communications demonstrates the convergence of media solutions

Highlights of Imagine Communications’ Convergence India 2017 include converged delivery systems developed in conjunction with Siemens Convergence Creators

As media solutions converge, the path to success for content distributors and owners lies in ensuring that there is strong monetisation in place to provide a commercial return on investment (ROI) in technology, said Joe Khodeir, senior vice-president Asia-Pacific at Imagine Communications.

He pointed to the company’s partnership with Siemens Convergence Creators to develop end-to-end solutions that cover both commercial and revenues elements, as well as the technology platform required to deliver content.

These include the integration of the Smart Video Engine, Siemens Convergence Creators’ modular and open online video platform, with Imagine Communications’ CloudXtream media and advertising delivery solution.

Bringing this combined solution to Convergence India 2017, the companies are offering operators a one-stop shop for video-on-demand (VoD), live and linear, and cloud digital video recording (DVR) services that leverage dynamic advertisement insertion capabilities to generate revenue from subscription, target advertising and hybrid monetisation models.

Imagine Communications will also demonstrate its HD Versio IP playout and graphic workflow solution for implementation on-premises or in the cloud. The demonstration will focus on supporting compressed or uncompressed IP-based playout, advanced multi-channel playback and branding.

Advances in standard hardware, allied to “innovative software”, have sped the IP revolution, said Khodeir. “Through initiatives like AIMS (Alliance for IP Media Solutions), standards are now widely recognised and media companies can plan best-of-breed solutions with confidence. IP-based platforms are now able to deliver the robustness, precision and reliability needed to handle the most demanding media operations and the adoption of these next-generation architectures will enable broadcasters throughout India to expand their businesses and maintain their competitive edge without sacrificing quality, reliability or disrupting their current operations and investment cycles.”

Other highlights at booth D52 include the SelenioFlex Live, which provides live encoding for applications from cloud DVR to live streaming and over-the-top (OTT) delivery of linear channels.

Convergence India 2017 will be held from Feb 8-10 at Pragati Maidan exhibition and convention centre in New Delhi, India.
