Imagine’s software-defined solutions to drive content production at IBC2017
IBC TV, the news and information service provided on-site and distributed across multiple platforms, has turned to Imagine Communications to provide the live streaming and video-on-demand (VoD) encoding infrastructure at IBC2017.
IBC TV features live interviews and debates, coverage of key conference sessions, and a large number of features and reports on issues emerging from the exhibition. A portion of the content will be produced from the IBC IP Showcase studio, which features a live all-IP workflow based on the Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) roadmap and the SMPTE ST-2110 family of standards. The rest of the production and distribution for IBC TV is in a dedicated studio centre in hall 13 of IBC.
Imagine Communications’ SelenioFlex Live is providing the core encoding and transcoding functionality for IBC TV. Workflow customisation using Imagine Communications’ Zenium microservices components provides the automatic generation, management and publishing of metadata, ensuring that the content is available as VoD packages as quickly as possible after publishing or live streaming for the IBC’s YouTube channel, Twitter, Periscope and Facebook platforms.
Glodina Lostanlen, chief marketing officer at Imagine Communications, said: “IBC TV is a perfect example of a busy and mission-critical TV operation, where every visitor to IBC2017 can watch it as it happens. We are proud to support IBC TV, and it gives us a wonderful opportunity to showcase the power and performance of a software-defined distribution workflow.”
IBC TV is live throughout IBC2017, which is held at the RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre in Amsterdam from September 14-19. The IBC TV production base can be found at booth 13.A08, while Imagine Communications is at booth 4.A01.
