The future of virtual sports streaming is closer than you think, as Missing in Action, a mobile application launched by Australian immersive technology company Unbnd, brings the action of NBA in mixed reality TV to basketball fans in Asia, starting with Australia and Singapore.
Will this signal the start of major sporting events that provide augmented viewing experience via a live-streaming platform in Asia?
As more sports fans are choosing streamed competitions over watching cable-TVs, mixed reality sports content is becoming critical in engaging new-age audiences.
Using a 360-degree ‘virtual theatre’, the application will provide 24/7 coverage of NBA live games, statistics, highlights, interactive content, panel discussions, and replays.
Furthermore, fans can personalise and customise the viewing experience and stats.
Apart from transporting virtual space to the fans’ fingertips, MIA plans to allow users to access merchandise, fantasy, social and other features in an all-in-one digital environment.
The app currently airs at least six live NBA games per week and is available for download in Australia and Singapore.
