Viacom18 is continuing on its cloud TV journey together with partner Kaltura.
Viacom18’s VOOT Cloud TV service is currently serving 37 million active users across mobile, Web and smart TVs who are accessing more than 50,000 hours of content.
Powered by the Kaltura TV platform, the VOOT service continues to scale and deploy new technologies that boost engagement and interactivity. These include split-screen delivery, tailored experiences for kids through VOOT kids, and Progressive Web Apps (PWA), including offline support, that allow an app-like experience within the mobile browser, and which is available on a wide range of Android devices.
Mohit Srivastava, head, product and engineering, Viacom18 Digital Ventures, said: “VOOT is truly a phenomenon — the speed at which it is being adopted and continues to grow definitely validates our cloud TV strategy.
“Kaltura’s technology and expertise help us stay ahead of the curve with innovative features and enhancements while continuously optimising performance and usability. We look forward to pioneering the next generation of cloud TV together.”
This year, VOOT plans to expand its audience base across six regional languages and international markets dedicated to Indian content fans worldwide. It will also launch its premium offering including exclusive original content, as well as international series and movies.
Dr Shay David, co-founder, president and GM of Kaltura’s media and telecom business unit, added: “Kaltura is in the business of powering cloud TV transformation for leading media companies, broadcasters and operators around the world.
