Korean’s Solo Wars permeates US airtime

Joongang Tongyang Broadcasting (JTBC), a South Korean cable network company, has finally ended its ‘Solo-hood’ by teaming up with A+E Networks International to distribute unscripted format of Solo Wars.

Solo Wars, a popular dating gameshow in South Korea and China, seeks to end singlehood through a strategy game. Splitting 100 participants evenly into male and female in the first round, each single need to appeal to the opposite sex through psychological tactics.

The game ends with eliminating incompatible individuals … and one couple will emerge by ‘proving’ the love for each other and win a cash prize.

Experiencing success on JTBC in South Korea and LeTV in China, the gameshow is now extending its format beyond Asia into the US through A+E Networks International.

The pair recently also inked a format deal that covers planning and co-producing one Korean scripted drama and one docu-series.
