Mangata Networks, a global company offering satellite-enabled connectivity and intelligent edge computing solutions, has entered a strategic partnership with Microsoft to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled edge cloud product connected via satellite.
Under the agreement, Mangata will provide connectivity and cloud computing services globally, utilising a multi-orbit constellation of highly elliptical orbit (HEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellites and terrestrial edge data centres.
Brian Holz, CEO of Mangata Networks, highlighted the transformative nature of the offering, stating it goes beyond a product to redefine how enterprises leverage the cloud and intelligent edge computing.
The partnership focuses on innovation, with Mangata collaborating closely with Microsoft to execute an integrated Edge-to-Space-to-Cloud product roadmap. Leveraging Microsoft’s generative AI and data analytics capabilities, the partnership aims to deliver Azure adaptive cloud solutions designed to address business problems at the edge.
The collaborative solutions will deliver features such as AI-enhanced networking routing, remote bandwidth optimisation, real-time data processing, digital twin support, and advanced satellite backhaul management. These solutions will be available through the Azure Marketplace, providing end-to-end application-level Service Level Agreements with bundled connectivity.
The partnership enables users to process data at the edge, reducing latency and time-to-insight. This empowers the hosting of advanced analytics and AI-inferencing at the edge, unlocking valuable data previously discarded due to bandwidth constraints.
The partnership further addresses critical global challenges related to sovereign state requirements, enterprise innovation, maritime and digital ocean transformation, data gravity, and telecommunications access and capacity needs by aligning with Microsoft’s Airband Initiative, which serves to advance digital equity by providing a platform for empowerment and digital transformation across the world.
The pilot phase of pre-integrated solutions in customer trial networks is scheduled to commence in late Q2 2024, ahead of Mangata’s planned constellation launch.
