New partnership brings AI-powered transcoding to DVB and OTT platforms

Visionular, a provider of AI-powered video solutions, has partnered with Infratel Solutions, a technology and digital television infrastructure provider, to bring more efficient and high-quality video encoding to DVB and over-the-top (OTT) platforms.
Through the partnership, Visionular will provide its containerised AuroraFlex transcoder, which Infratel Solutions will integrate into end-to-end video solutions for customers across its markets.
AuroraFlex is an AI-powered video transcoder designed to reduce bitrate requirements by up to 50% while preserving visual quality. Its deep-learning perceptual models prioritise visually important elements such as faces, text and motion, helping video providers reduce distribution and infrastructure costs without compromising the viewing experience.
Supporting H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC standards, AuroraFlex can be introduced as a drop-in replacement within existing video workflows. Its containerised architecture provides the flexibility to deploy the technology on premises, within a standalone cluster or as part of a managed service.
Zoe Liu, CEO & Founder, Visionular, said, “Our partnership with Infratel Solutions makes it easier for DVB and OTT providers to integrate AuroraFlex into broader, end-to-end video workflows.
“By combining our AI-powered transcoding technology with Infratel’s integration capabilities and market expertise, we can help customers improve compression efficiency, maintain exceptional visual quality and reduce delivery costs.”
The partnership will allow Visionular and Infratel Solutions to jointly identify customer requirements, develop tailored deployment models and support organisations seeking to modernise their video infrastructure without replacing their entire workflow.
Ivan Reuter, CEO & Founder, Infratel, added, “DVB and OTT platform operators have been looking for a way to reduce their OPEX through more efficient encoding and transcoding while not sacrificing on the video quality.
“Today this has become a reality with our cloud-based and on-prem solutions powered by Visionular.
“By combining Infratel’s understanding of DVB and OTT integration requirements with Visionular’s cutting-edge technology, operators can upgrade to HD or 4K without additional bandwidth or substantially reduce their satellite and content delivery network costs.”
