Peter Timmons joins GatesAir

In his new role as business development director, EMEA and India, at GatesAir, Peter Timmons is tasked to drive strategic customer and partner initiative across the region
GatesAir has named Peter Timmons as business development director across Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and India. Reporting to Andy McClelland, managing director, EMEA and India, Timmons will focus on both new and existing customer and partner relationships, with an eye on strengthening the company’s brand visibility and market share region-wide.
Timmons joins GatesAir from Grass Valley, where he served as senior product manager for several key product lines. Over his three-year tenure, he was responsible for growing product revenues, and developing new product lines to complement Grass Valley’s live production and playout solutions. Prior to Grass Valley, he held key positions at Imagine Communications, Sony Professional Services and Harris Broadcast Communications, the company from which GatesAir was born.
For the past six months, GatesAirs has reorganised and broadened its global sales and business development team in EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Timmons will support these growth initiatives in EMEA and India through new programmes that are aimed to stimulate GatesAir’s sales channels, and increase sales penetration of the company’s product lines.
In addition to driving transmitter sales for digital TV and radio transmitters, Timmons also sees opportunities from GatesAir’s Intraplex networking as broadcasters accelerate IP adoptions. He explained: “The transition to IP has evolved from aspiration to reality, and we anticipate a broad array of opportunities for GatesAir as broadcasters embrace IP networking across their over-the-air systems, including DVB-T2 and DAB Radio.
“GatesAir’s unparalleled technology and customer service will amplify our success in this highly competitive landscape. My experience across customer relations, identifying business opportunities, and providing solutions tailored to each customer’s needs will fortify our regional initiatives.”
