PlayBox Neo designs enhancements according to customers’ real needs
PlayBox Neo is using BroadcastAsia 2026 as a platform to demonstrate a broad range of platform enhancements aimed at helping broadcasters manage increasingly complex hybrid production environments.
At booth 5A3-1, PlayBox Neo is focusing its latest development cycle on three broad themes: security, connectivity, and operational efficiency – reflecting pressures facing broadcast and media organisations as their workflows extend across on-premises, cloud, and IP-based infrastructure.
Among the more significant updates is a role-based user management system for the PlayBox Neo Suite, giving administrators granular control over which functions and toolsets each user can access. The feature targets multi-user production environments where editors, engineers, and operators work simultaneously, adding a layer of accountability and workflow transparency.
Complementing this, the platform now supports Active Directory integration via Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, allowing organisations to manage login credentials and permissions through existing IT infrastructure rather than maintaining separate broadcast-specific systems.
On the performance side, the company has optimised its Multiviewer product to reduce bandwidth consumption by 70%, bringing usage down to 30% of previous levels. The improvement is particularly significant for remote production and cloud-based monitoring workflows, where bandwidth constraints can affect both cost and reliability.
PlayBox Neo has also reworked its ingest workflow so that media becomes available for editing while still being recorded. The change is positioned as a meaningful time-saver for sports and live news operations where turnaround speed is critical.
Expanded integration with EditShare, the collaborative editing and media asset management platform, extends the company’s ecosystem reach, ensuring media files are tracked across playout servers, newsroom systems, and automation tools.
On the infrastructure side, PlayBox Neo has added support for the AJA KONA IP25 IP converter card, enabling SMPTE ST 2110 compatibility for high-quality, low-latency IP video delivery. Support for SMPTE ST 2022-7 adds redundancy, maintaining signal continuity in the event of network disruption.
