The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the world’s largest active sports car enduring races. This year, race organiser Automobile de I’Ouest deployed the Quicklink TX Quad to stream the race onto its Facebook page and website.

Quicklink brings fans closer to 24 Hours of Le Mans

Using the Quicklink TX Quad, the race organiser is able to stream the race to its Facebook page and website

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is an automobile endurance car race held annually in Le Mans, France. Last year, more than 90 million TV viewers watched the Le Mans coverage globally, gaining 4,500 hours of TV coverage.

For this year’s race, which took place on June 17 and 18, the Digital Department of Circuit des 24 Heures deployed the Quicklink TX Quad to stream the event onto the 24 Hours of Le Mans Facebook page and website.

Nicolas Cousseau, digital department manager of the race organiser Automobile Club de I’Ouest (24 Hours of Le Mans), said: “This year, we needed to improve our Digital Department TV Production set. Above all, we wanted to use a product that would enable us to simplify our live connection, and also allow us to set up Skype interviews with fans.

“The Quicklink TX Quad enabled us to do this with up to four callers simultaneously. In short, using Quicklink’s solution, our fans were able to be at the heart of our digital activities.”

The Quicklink TX Quad was used during race scrutineering where a cameraman was filming a Skype interview using an iPad.

Using the Quicklink TX Quad, operators were also able to switch between Skype and live images of the race. And this was particularly useful for TV anchors who were sent out to the circuit campsite to conduct live interviews during the race.

Following a successful deployment, Quicklink revealed that the Digital Department of Circuit des 24 Heures plans to use the Quicklink TX in future coverage of racing events at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
