China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom have selected the R&S TSME6 drive test scanner from Rohde & Schwarz for their 5G network deployment and optimisation efforts.
Commercial 5G deployment started in China in 2019, and is led by China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom, the three principal mobile carriers in China. The number of 5G subscribers is expected to reach 822 million subscribers by 2025, predicted the GSMA, which represents mobile network operators worldwide.
Rohde & Schwarz is working with Zhuhai DingLi, a mobile network test and measurement solution provider, for the 5G project in China. Zhuhai DingLi is delivering the drive test software with a Chinese GUI to complement the test scanners from Rohde & Schwarz.
The R&S TSME6 scanner supports parallel measurements of wireless technologies including 5G NR, TDD-LTE, FDD-LTE, NB-IoT, eMTC/LTE-M, WCDMA, EVDO, CDMA and GSM, meeting operator needs for simultaneous measurements on 3GPP multi-standard networks.
In addition, the scanner covers all 5G NR frequency bands for sub6 GHz TDD and FDD, including the 700 MHz, 2.1 GHz and 3.5 GHz frequency bands. In combination with the R&S TSME30DC and R&S TSME44DC downconverters, it supports the FR2 frequency band from 24 GHz to 44 GHz, fulfilling the requirements of the Chinese network operators.
