Already a user of Ross Video products, KOJO further enhanced the stadium control room with the installation of XPression Tessera to power graphics and clips across Adelaide Oval’s displays
Adelaide Oval, one of Australia’s iconic sports stadium that holds a seating capacity of more than 50,000, has been the hosting venue for regular cricket matches, two Australian Rules football teams, soccer games, as well as live concerts and events.
Earlier this year, KOJO, the creative service company responsible for all game day production, was tasked by the Adelaide Oval team to upgrade the stadium control room. The control room, which is already equipped with the Carbonite production switcher and XPression graphics suite from Ross Video, is further enhanced with the addition of XPression Tessera, Ross Video’s line of real-time graphics products and workflow tools.
With the installation of Tessera, users are able to link together multiple XPression engines to create consistent output of scenes across large or irregularly assembled display panels, which comprise sports scoreboards, ribbon boards and studio video walls. Equipped with XPression’s Multi-Engine Sync technology, the solution is able to provide “frame-accurate, non-tearing” recall of graphics and clips across any section of the display, enabling dynamic animations and transitions.
Commenting on the Adelaide installation, Stephen Lord, a representative from KOJO, emphasised that control was a key factor for the production team. He said: “We identified Tessera as a powerful way for us to run ribbon boards and integrated experiences at Adelaide Oval. Our creative team is constantly pushing the boundary of what is possible, so the challenge for us was always to be how we could get the best set-up and control for our production team.
“Fortunately, we received a great deal of support from the Ross team, who worked with us to create custom control panels in DashBoards, Ross Video’s open platform facility control solution. As a result, we’re now using DashBoard to control a number of different devices, in addition to Tessera, and we’re pleased at how easy the system has been set up and configured.”
