Simplylive enabling Riedel to expand live production capabilities

Riedel Communications has expanded its range of live video production solutions after last year’s acquisition of Simplylive, a live remote production solutions provider.

The company’s software-based products for multi-camera production, which it integrated into its portfolio following the acquisition of Simplylive, include the Simplylive Production Suite, the RiMotion and RiCapture replay and ingest solutions, as well as its Venue Gateway and Web Multiviewers.

This has now been added to with the new RiMotion 84, which offers higher resolutions, increased flexibility, and granularity. It is the first RiMotion variant to support 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) resolutions and 10-bit high dynamic range (HDR). The replay solution combines slow-motion capabilities with an innovative, user-friendly interface and boasts up to four 4K/UHD and up to eight HD HDR channels. The compact 2-RU chassis includes five 2TB SSD RAID storage.

Also newly introduced by Riedel is the Venue Gateway Advanced, which bridges broadcast production infrastructures with distant venues. The low-latency, multi-channel, and multi-format contribution appliance comes with bi-directional, eight-channel encode/decode capabilities. It also introduces two additional 10Gbps RJ45 Ethernet connectors for higher backbone bandwidths.

Since the acquisition of Simplylive six months ago, Riedel has expanded its live production capabilities with software-centric replay solutions and the complete Simplylive Production Suite, available for on-prem and cloud deployment.

Luc Doneux, Director Business Development, Live Production, Riedel, said, “One of the most striking things about R84 is its immense flexibility and granularity. It is a very attractive package for those looking to take the step up to 4K/UHD or HDR productions, as it allows our customers to start with a 1080p SDR system and then move to 4K/UHD or HDR when the time is right.”
