Shawn Carnahan, the company’s CTO, said: “Supporting Apple ProRes RAW in Switch means our customers can reap the benefits of powerful ProRes performance, in a format ideal for high dynamic range (HDR) content creation. “
The family of Apple ProRes codec provides real-time editing and quality image preservation functions. And ProRes RAW is based on the same underlying technologies. Users gain more control over processing the image — demosaicing, linear-to-log conversions, and custom LUT; thus, ProRes Raw facilitates HDR content creation.
“With the introduction of ProRes RAW our Switch customers have everything they need in a professional cross-platform production tool — whether in the studio, the office, or even in the field,” said Carnahan.
Switch is able to preview footage prior conversion to other formats, trim videos to compact sizes and modify file properties. Media professionals can tap on the existing functionalities of Switch to inspect, modify and convert raw files to ProRes RAW or other lightweight formats for HDR and wide distribution — directly to Vimeo, YouTube or Facebook.
The combination of Switch’s flexibility and the pristine quality of ProRes Raw ushers in a powerful tool for media professionals to produce and manage a high-level visual experience across their network.
