Three top Asian IP leaders join HEVC Advance patent pool
HEVC digital video coding standard, also known as H.265, is creating buzz all anew. Not only does it provide speed efficiency over encoding and decoding videos over Internet, TV and mobile transmission, but HEVC is also about to deliver next-generation 4K, 8K and UHD displays.

With the many promises that it offers, HEVC Advance — an independent licensing administrator — is currently growing worldwide patents for HEVC/H.265 to over 7,000 and counting. Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), NTT DOCOMO and SK Telecom are now into the HEVC Advance HEVC/H.265 Patent Pool License Program.
“We are very pleased that such esteemed technology and IP leaders as NTT, DOCOMO, and SK Telecom have chosen HEVC Advance to license their valuable HEVC/H.265 essential patents,” said HEVC Advance CEO Peter Moller.
“With these further endorsements of our licensing programme and our rapidly expanding list of licensees, HEVC Advance takes another positive step towards achieving its goal of enabling the benefits of HEVC technology to reach all consumers.”
Meanwhile, HEVC Advance has announced more additions to its growing list of licensees, and they include BenQ Corp, Coship Electronics, Jiuzhou Electric, SDMC Technology, Changhong Network Technologies, Tatung Corp, Sonopress, Bosch, Schwaiger, Avtex, SB Electronics, Razer (Asia-Pacific), Axis Communications, Genetec, Hitachi Industry & Control Solutions, DMM.com, Maspro Denkoh Corp, Kumahira, and Memory-Tech Holding.
