TVBS Media employed several LiveU’s LU600 HEVC/H.265 portable transmission units for the coverage of the Tour de Taiwan cycling tournament in March this year.
The Taiwanese broadcaster has already relied on LiveU’s LU600 HEVC/H.265 solution for live news and sports coverage
TVBS Media, a local satellite direct-to-home (DTH) and cable operator in Taiwan, has selected LiveU’s LU600 HEVC/H.265 portable transmission unit for live newsgathering and sports coverage. Several of the LU600 units have already been deployed for the coverage of breaking and developing news, as well as sports events including the Tour de Taiwan cycling tournament, and New Taipei City Wan Jin She marathon, where camera operators streamed live from the back of a motorbike.
According to LiveU, the LU600 HEVC/H.265 solution was selected for its “stability, reliability and video quality in low bitrate transmission conditions”. Furthermore, TVBS found the LiveU’s backpack functional as it is designed with a rain cover, and the unit is equipped with a battery life of four hours.
LiveU Central, the company’s unified management platform, also allows users to control and monitor the entire ecosystem and content via any browser-supported computer or tablet, from anywhere around the world.
Yaal Eshel, vice-president of sales, LiveU, concluded: “TVBS performed professional tests of the technology in extreme use cases, and we’re happy to be able to meet their strict requirements. We are committed to continue providing innovative products and close support to our customers in Taiwan.”
