Twitter seals new APAC sports partnerships

In addition to the live original programming, live games, highlights and events on the platform, Twitter has unveiled nine new video partners who will utilise its In-stream Sponsorship to monetise their content

Social network giant Twitter has announced nine new video sports collaborations at Sportel Asia, a sports marketing and media convention held in Singapore this month from March 13-15.

The nine new partners include Asian Tour, Astro Malaysia, BallBall, Eleven Sports, Fox Sports Asia, International Table Tennis Federation, NetTV, SportsFix TV, and TV One.

Aneesh Madani, head of sport partnership, Asia-Pacific, Twitter, said: “Digital video consumption in Asia-Pacific is growing rapidly. Introducing these in-stream video sponsorship deals for sports to advertisers in Asia-Pacific will strengthen the success of our partners in the region, and give fans an easy way to keep up with the sports they care about most.”

Each of these partners will utilise Twitter’s In-Stream Sponsorships to enable the publisher partners to monetise their video content while enabling advertisers to reach out to engaged audiences and sponsor exclusive content. The content shared on Twitter will also include a short pre-roll ad from content sponsors.

As one of the new partners, Astro Malaysia will provide fans with access to clips and content from various sports tournaments such as FIFA World Cup, English Premier League, Formula 1 and MotoGP. CK Lee, vice-president, sports content, Astro, added: “Alongside our broadcast of all 64 matches of the World Cup, Twitter will help amplify the most exciting moments from Astro’s coverage, and immerse fans in the ‘world game’ even further through expert analysis and fun, creative live and highlights video content from Russia.”
