VP Media Services readies for launch

An Opex solution that enables users to benefit from a complete, fully featured media content production and distribution capability, without the need to finance and manage it, VP Media Services will see proof-of-concept implementations in the last quarter of this year.

Emmanuel Charlet, head of sales and pre-sales, VP Media Solutions (VPMS), explained: “We’re launching VP Media Services after talking to numerous companies about the challenges and obstacles they face with content production and distribution, such as encoding and transcoding — especially of unfamiliar content.

“It delivers a complete solution — but replaces Capex with Opex. VP Media Services can provide an organisation with all the media content functionality it needs, but its real strength is in its ability to provide that functionality very flexibly — in support of the launch of a temporary channel, for example, or to absorb short-term workloads.”

Minimising or eliminating capital expenditure is not the only advantage of VP Media Services. It can also relieve media companies of the burden of managing their own systems, freeing time and resource — but users remain in complete control, said VPMS.

The solution is also completely customisable, according to the needs of each customer: the user interface, for example, can be the one with which the user is already familiar with. VP Media Services is available as a complete, standalone solution — or it can be integrated within a customer’s existing systems. Whether the underlying infrastructure and processing is local or remote is completely transparent, informed Charlet, who concluded: “In a dynamic media world, demand can be highly unpredictable. An Opex solution like VP Media Services offers the rapid scalability necessary to respond to that uncertainty.

“It leverages our extensive history and expertise in the broadcast industry, and provides a unique new option for content distributors to achieve new levels of efficiency and cost-effectiveness.”
