At NAB 2026, Utah Scientific is set to showcase an expanded portfolio of hybrid SDI/IP routing, control, and signal management solutions, underscoring the industry’s ongoing transition towards IP-based workflows. The organisation’s presence at booth N941 will centre on live, end-to-end demonstrations of SMTE ST2110 environments, highlighting how broadcasters can adopt IP at their own pace while maintaining operational continuity. 

At the core of the showcase is a fully integrated hybrid SDI/ST 2110 workflow built around Utah Scientific’s On-Ramp platform, a compact 1RU SDI-to-IP gateway and processing engine. Designed for flexibility, the system supports hot-swappable encapsulation and de-encapsulation cards, along with front-facing SFP connectivity, enabling incremental migration to IP while preserving a routable SDI backup for all signals. 

On-Ramp forms part of the organisation’s E.D.G.E. (Equally Distributed Growth Environment) architecture, which enables distributed routing capacity across interconnected nodes. By leveraging standard network switches, operators can scale their infrastructure dynamically, supporting virtually unlimited expansion. Complementing this ecosystem are high-density signal transport and distribution tools, including the MAXMUX multiplexing system and a 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) configurable distribution amplifier, both designed to optimise performance in 4K/UHD and multi-signal environments. 

Utah Scientific will also demonstrate its PassThrough Cards, which enable hybrid SDI/2110 functionality directly within its Series 2 routers. By eliminating the need for external gateway devices, these cards allow broadcasters to transition from SDI to hybrid and fully IP-based infrastructures within a single platform. 

Control and orchestration of these hybrid workflows are managed through NBOSS, Utah Scientific’s NMOS-compliant control layer. Built on the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) standards, NBOSS supports key functionalities, including IS-04 discovery, IS-05 connection management, and IEEE 1588 precision timing.
