Augmenting graphics close to reality

Real Light, Real Depth and Extreme are some of the solutions that Ncam Technologies will be launching at 2018 NAB Show

Ncam Technologies, a developer of augmented reality (AR) solutions for the entertainment industry, will be launching a range of new solutions designed to enhance lighting and depth within AR platforms at 2018 NAB Show.

For instance, Real Light is a solution that is designed to capture lighting — such as direction, colour, intensity and high dynamic range (HDR) maps — and renders it onto augmented graphics by adapting to each lighting change.

Ncam will also be demonstrating Real Depth, a new automated technique for sensing depth. By extracting depth data in real time, subjects are able to interact with their virtual surroundings for the “most realistic and synergetic” visual engagement, said Ncam.

Alongside Real Light and Real Depth, Ncam has developed Extreme, a new option for Ncam’s camera tracking products. This solution is designed to provide enhanced camera tracking for severe lighting conditions, especially stage lighting including strobing effects.

Nic Hatch, CEO for Ncam, concluded: “These new technologies take our AR platform to the next level, providing our customers with unrivalled possibilities, enabling an even more realistic look to graphics content.”

Besides demonstrating the solutions at booth C5629, Ncam’s solutions will also be on display at its partners booths, including Avid at booth SU801, Vizrt at booth SL2416, and Ventuz at SL13316, during 2018 NAB Show. The NAB Show will take place from this month, from April 7-12 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre in Nevada, USA.
